Aaron's rod blossoms
- 1. The LORD said to Moses:
- 2. Speak to the children of Israel, and take from each of them a rod, according to the house of their fathers, from all their princes, according to the house of their fathers, twelve rods; each one will write his name on his stick.
- 3. And thou shalt write the name of Aaron upon the rod of Levi; for every head of his father's house shall have a rod.
- 4. And you shall place them in the tent of meeting, before the testimony, where I will come to you.
- 5. And it shall come to pass that the rod of the man whom I have chosen shall flourish; So I will stop the murmurings of the children of Israel against me, so that they will no longer murmur against me and die.
- 6. And Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all his princes gave him rods, every prince one rod, according to the houses of his fathers, twelve rods; and Aaron's rod was among his rods.
- 7. And Moses set the rods before the LORD in the tent of testimony.
- 8. And it came to pass the next day that Moses entered the tent of testimony, and, behold, Aaron's rod, by the house of Levi, had budded; for it had produced flowers, and sprouted shoots, and had yielded almonds.
- 9. Then Moses took away all the rods from before the LORD, for all the children of Israel; and they saw and took each man his rod.
- 10. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put again Aaron's rod before the testimony, to be kept for a sign unto the rebellious sons; and you will stop their murmurings against me, so that they will not die.
- 11. And Moses did so; as the LORD commanded him, so he did.
- 12. And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, Behold, we have expired, we have perished, we have all perished.
- 13. Whoever approaches the tabernacle of the LORD will die; Shall we all expire?
