  • 1. The heart of the sovereign is like a river controlled by the Lord; He leads you according to His will.
  • 2. Men may think their ways are righteous, but it is the Lord who searches the hearts.
  • 3. More than sacrifices, what pleases the Lord is the practice of justice and righteousness.
  • 4. Arrogance and a haughty look denounce the sinful life of the wicked.
  • 5. The rush to achieve riches leads to misery, but careful planning leads to abundance.
  • 6. Fortune obtained through lies is fleeting and treacherous, a death trap.
  • 7. The wicked are dragged away by their own violence, as they refuse to act justly.
  • 8. The ways of the guilty are crooked, but the innocent live righteously.
  • 9. It is preferable to live in a corner on the roof than to share a house with a quarrelsome woman.
  • 10. The wicked delights in doing evil; he has no compassion for others.
  • 11. The punishment of the scoffer brings wisdom to the simple; the instruction of the wise increases your knowledge.
  • 12. The righteous observes the house of the wicked and brings them to ruin.
  • 13. He who ignores the cry of the poor will also be ignored when he cries, without receiving an answer.
  • 14. A gift offered in secret calms anger, and a gift in secret appeases the most intense fury.
  • 15. When justice is done, the righteous rejoice, but evildoers are terrified.
  • 16. He who strays from the path of prudence will rest in the company of the dead.
  • 17. He who indulges in pleasure will face want; he who holds fast to wine and oil will never be rich.
  • 18. The wicked will be redeemed instead of the righteous, and the unfaithful instead of the upright.
  • 19. It is better to live in the desert than with a quarrelsome and resentful woman.
  • 20. Food and oil are stored in the wise man's house, but the fool wastes them.
  • 21. He who follows justice and loyalty finds life, justice and honor.
  • 22. The wise man conquers the city of the mighty and tears down the fortress in which they trusted.
  • 23. He who guards his mouth and his tongue protects himself from many troubles.
  • 24. The arrogant and proud person is known as a scorner, acting with extreme pride.
  • 25. The lazy man dies wishing, because he never puts his hands to work.
  • 26. While the righteous shares generously, the lazy desires without ceasing.
  • 27. The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable, especially when done with evil intentions.
  • 28. A false witness will perish, but the testimony of a well-informed man will endure.
  • 29. The wicked shows his arrogance on his face, but the righteous keeps his path in order.
  • 30. No wisdom, discernment or plan can resist the Lord.
  • 31. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory comes from the Lord.
