  • 1. Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a riot, and whoever is overcome by them is not wise.
  • 2. As the lion's roar is the king's terror; whoever provokes him to anger puts his own life in danger.
  • 3. It is honorable for a man to avoid strife, but every fool gets involved in strife.
  • 4. The lazy man does not plow in the autumn; He will look for it in the harvest, but he will not find it.
  • 5. As deep waters is the counsel in the heart of man; but the man of intelligence will bring him out.
  • 6. Many proclaim their own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?
  • 7. The righteous walk in their sincerity; Blessed will be his children after him.
  • 8.The king who sits on the throne of justice dispels all evil with his gaze.
  • 9. Who can say: I have purified my heart, I am clean from my sin?
  • 10. Two different weights and two different measures, both are abominable to the Lord.
  • 11. Even a child will make himself known by his actions, whether his work is pure and upright.
  • 12. The ear that hears, and the eye that sees, the Lord made both.
  • 13. Do not love sleep, lest you become poor; open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread.
  • 14. Bad, bad, says the buyer, but, having withdrawn, he then boasts.
  • 15. There is gold and an abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a jewel of great price.
  • 16. Take the clothes of one who stands as a guarantor for a stranger; and takes a pledge of it, for a foreign woman.
  • 17. The bread of lies is delicious to a man, but he who is quick to get rich will not go unpunished.
  • 18. Projects through the council are successful; wage war with prudence.
  • 19. The gossip reveals the secret; Therefore, do not mess with anyone who opens their lips a lot.
  • 20. Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will go out in black darkness.
  • 21. The inheritance that is acquired hastily in the beginning will not be blessed in the end.
  • 22. Do not say: I will avenge evil; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.
  • 23. False weights are abominable to the Lord, and deceptive scales are no good.
  • 24. A man's steps are directed from the Lord. How then can a man understand his path?
  • 25. A snare is for a man to say unwisely: He is holy; and, once the vows have been made, reflect.
  • 26. The wise king scatters the wicked, and makes the wheel pass over them.
  • 27. The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, which searches everything within, even to the depths of the belly.
  • 28. Mercy and truth guard the king; and he upholds his throne with kindness.
  • 29. The glory of the young is their strength, and the beauty of the old is their gray hair.
  • 30. The lashes that wound purify from evil; and the wounds penetrate to the most intimate part of the body.
