- 1. Do not be angry with evildoers or envy the wicked;
- 2. for like grass they will soon wither, like green grass they will soon be gone.
- 3. Trust in the Lord and do good; so you will dwell in the land and enjoy security.
- 4. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
- 5. Commit your way to the Lord; trust him, and he will act:
- 6. he will reveal his righteousness as the light and his justice as the noonday sun.
- 7. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him; Do not be angry with those who prosper in their ways, nor with those who plot evil.
- 8. Avoid anger and reject wrath; do not get angry, as this only leads to evil.
- 9. For evildoers will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
- 10. A little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; no matter how hard you look for them, they will not be found.
- 11. But the humble will inherit the earth and enjoy complete peace.
- 12. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth against them;
- 13. But the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows that their day is coming.
- 14. The wicked draw their sword and prepare their bow to strike down the needy and the poor, to kill those who walk uprightly.
- 15. But their swords will be dashed in pieces, and their bows will be broken.
- 16. The little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked people;
- 17. for the arm of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.
- 18. The Lord cares for the lives of the upright, and their inheritance will remain forever.
- 19. In times of adversity they will not be disappointed; in days of hunger they will enjoy plenty.
- 20. But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the Lord will wither like the beauty of the fields; they will disappear like smoke.
- 21. The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous are generous and give.
- 22. Those whom the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those whom he curses will be cut off.
- 23.The Lord establishes the steps of a man, when his conduct pleases him;
- 24. even if he falls, he will not fall prostrate, for the Lord holds him by the hand.
- 25. I was once young and now I am old, but I have never seen the righteous man destitute nor his children begging for bread.
- 26. He is always generous and lends kindly; your children will be blessed.
- 27. Turn away from evil and do good; and you will have a safe place forever.
- 28. For the Lord loves what is righteous, and will not abandon his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be eliminated;
- 29. the righteous will inherit the earth and will dwell in it forever.
- 30. The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue speaks with justice.
- 31. He carries the law of his God in his heart; will never slip in his ways.
- 32. The wicked stalks the righteous, looking for an opportunity to kill him;
- 33. but the Lord will not let him fall into their hands, nor will he allow them to condemn him when judged.
- 34. Wait on the Lord and follow his will. He will exalt him, giving him the land as an inheritance; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
- 35. I saw a wicked and cruel one blossom like a leafy tree,
- 36. but he soon disappeared and could not be found; Even if I looked for it, it no longer existed.
- 37. Consider the blameless, observe the righteous; there is a future for the man of peace.
- 38. But the rebels will be destroyed; there will be no future for the wicked.
- 39. The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is your strength in times of adversity.
- 40. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
