Psalms - Old Testament
Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1. O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance; They desecrated your holy temple and reduced Jerusalem to ruins.
  • 2. They threw the bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air; the corpses of your faithful were handed over to the wild beasts of the earth.
  • 3. They poured out their blood like water around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.
  • 4. We are mocked by our neighbors, laughed at and mocked by those around us.
  • 5. Until when, Lord? Will you be angry forever? Will your zeal burn like fire?
  • 6. Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not recognize you, on the kingdoms that do not call on your name,
  • 7. for they devoured Jacob and destroyed his dwellings.
  • 8. Remember not against us the iniquities of our ancestors; let your compassion come quickly to meet us, for we are very downcast.
  • 9. Help us, O God, our Savior, for the glory of your name; Deliver us and forgive us our sins, for your name's sake.
  • 10. Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations your vengeance poured out on the blood of your servants.
  • 11. Let the groaning of the prisoners come before you. With your powerful arm preserve those condemned to death.
  • 12. Repay sevenfold to our neighbors, to those who mocked you, Lord.
  • 13. So we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; we will tell all peoples of your glory, from generation to generation.
