  • 1. May God arise! Let his enemies be scattered, let those who hate him flee from his presence.
  • 2. As the smoke dissipates, so may they be scattered; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked perish before God.
  • 3. But let the righteous rejoice, exult before God; rejoice with great joy!
  • 4 Sing to God, praise his name; exalt him who rides on the clouds; your name is Lord! Rejoice before him!
  • 5. Father to orphans and defender of widows is God in his holy habitation.
  • 6. God gives a home to the lonely, sets captives free to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a barren land.
  • 7. When you went out in front of your people, O God, when you marched through the desert,
  • 8. the earth shook, even the heavens dropped before God, that Sinai before God, the God of Israel.
  • 9. You, O God, have shed generous rain; You have restored your exhausted inheritance.
  • 10. Your flock settled there, and out of your goodness, O God, you supplied those in need.
  • 11. The Lord proclaimed the word, and many messengers announced it:
  • 12. “Kings and armies flee in rout; the housewife divides the spoils.
  • 13. Even when you sleep among the pens, the wings of my dove are covered with silver, its feathers with shining gold.”
  • 14. When the Almighty scattered the kings, it was like snow falling on Mount Zalmon.
  • 15. The mountains of Bashan are majestic; they are mountains of Bashan.
  • 16. Why do you high-crested mountains look with envy at the mountain that God chose for your home? Surely the Lord will dwell in him forever.
  • 17. The chariots of God are tens of thousands, thousands of thousands; the Lord came from Sinai to his sanctuary.
  • 18. When you ascended on high, you took captives; You received men as tribute, even rebels, to establish your dwelling, O Lord God.
  • 19. Blessed be the Lord, who bears our burden day after day! God is our salvation.
  • 20. Our God is the God who saves; the Sovereign Lord delivers us from death.
  • 21. God will certainly crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy skulls of those who persist in their sins.
  • 22. The Lord says, “I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
  • 23. that you may dip your foot in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs may have its portion of them.”
  • 24. Your procession, O God, is seen, the procession of my God and my King entering the sanctuary.
  • 25. The singers go in front, the musicians follow; in the middle are young women playing tambourines.
  • 26. Praise God in the great assembly; Praise the Lord, you who are descendants of Israel!
  • 27. There is the little tribe of Benjamin, their leader, the princes of Judah with his retinue, the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.
  • 28. Your God has decreed your strength; demonstrate, O God, your strength that you acted in favor of us.
  • 29. Because of your temple in Jerusalem, kings will bring tribute to you.
  • 30. Rebuke the wild beasts that live among the reedbeds, the assembly of mighty bulls among the calves of the nations. Let them prostrate themselves with bars of silver. It spreads the nations that like to fight.
  • 31. Send ambassadors, O God, to rule nations, even lawless nations.
  • 32. Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth, praise the Lord,
  • 33. he who rides the heavens, the eternal heavens. Listen! He makes his powerful voice heard.
  • 34. Attribute power to God; his majesty is over Israel, and his power is in the clouds.
  • 35. You are fearful, O God, in your sanctuary; It is the God of Israel who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!
