Psalms - Old Testament
Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1. In you, Lord, I take refuge; May I never be humiliated. Deliver me by your righteousness.
  • 2. Incline your ears to me, hurry to free me! Be my rock of refuge, a mighty fortress to save me.
  • 3. For you are my rock and my fortress; For your name's sake, lead me and guide me.
  • 4. Take me out of the trap they have set for me, for you are my refuge.
  • 5. Into your hands I commit my spirit; Rescue me, Lord, God of truth.
  • 6. I hate those who cling to worthless idols, but I trust in the Lord.
  • 7. I will exult and be glad because of your loyal love, for you have seen my affliction, you have known the anguish of my soul.
  • 8. You did not deliver me into the hands of my enemies; You gave me security and freedom.
  • 9. Mercy, Lord! I'm in despair! Sadness consumes me, my vision, my strength and my appetite.
  • 10. My life is consumed in anguish, my years are consumed in lamentation; my affliction exhausts my strength, and my bones grow weak.
  • 11. Because of all my adversaries, I am an object of contempt to my neighbors and a fear to my friends; those who see me on the street run away from me.
  • 12. I have been forgotten as if I were dead; I became like a broken vase.
  • 13. I hear many slanders around me; fear dominates me, because they plot against me and plan to take my life.
  • 14. But I trust in you, Lord, and say, “You are my God.”
  • 15. My future is in your hands; Deliver me from my enemies and those who persecute me.
  • 16. Make your face shine upon your servant; save me by your loyal love.
  • 17. Do not allow me to be humiliated, Lord, for I have cried out to you; but may the wicked be humiliated, mute in Sheol.
  • 18. Let their lying lips be silenced, for with arrogance and contempt they humiliate the righteous.
  • 19. How great is your kindness, which you reserved for those who fear you, which, in the sight of men, you grant to those who take refuge in you!
  • 20. In the shelter of your presence you protect them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you hide them from slanderous tongues.
  • 21. Blessed be the Lord, for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was under siege.
  • 22. Alarmed, I said, “I have been excluded from your presence!” However, you heard my pleas when I cried out to you for help.
  • 23. Love the Lord, all you his faithful ones! The Lord preserves those who are loyal, but he repays those who are arrogant with justice.
  • 24. Be strong and courageous, all you who hope in the Lord!
