  • 2. Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: When you enter the land of your dwellings, which I will give you,
  • 3. and you make a burnt offering, burnt offering, or sacrifice to the Lord, by special vow, or by your will, or on your solemn festivals, to make a pleasant aroma to the Lord, of the cattle, or of the sheep,
  • 4. then whoever offers his offering to the Lord will bring, as a food offering, the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with the fourth part of a hin of oil.
  • 5. And of the wine for the drink offering you shall offer the fourth part of a hin with the burnt offering or with the sacrifice for a lamb.
  • 6. Or for a ram you shall offer two tenths of fine flour mixed with the third part of a hin of oil as a meat offering.
  • 7. And of the wine for the drink offering you shall offer the third part of a hin, as a sweet savor to the Lord.
  • 8. And when you offer a bull as a burnt offering, or sacrifice, by special vow, or peace offerings to the Lord,
  • 9. You shall offer, with the bull, a food offering of three tenths of fine flour, mixed with half a hin of oil.
  • 10. And of the wine for the drink offering you shall offer half a hin as an offering by fire of a sweet aroma to the Lord.
  • 11. This will be done with each ox, or with each ram, or with any of the lambs or goats.
  • 12. According to their number, so shall you do to each one, according to the number you offer.
  • 13. All the natives will do these things in this way, offering an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.
  • 14. And when a stranger also sojourns with you, or whosoever among your generations, offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto the Lord, as you do, so shall he do.
  • 15. There will be one statute for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you, a statute forever throughout your generations; as you, so shall the stranger be before the Lord.
  • 16. There will be one law and one judgment for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.
  • 17. The Lord said to Moses:
  • 18. Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: When you enter the land, where I will lead you,
  • 19. It will happen that when you eat the bread of the land, you will offer an offering to the Lord.
  • 20. Of the firstfruits of your dough you shall offer an offering to the Lord; as the firstfruits of the threshing floor, so shall you offer it.
  • 21. Of the firstfruits of your dough you shall give to the Lord an offering throughout your generations.

Sacrifices due to involuntary guilt

  • 22. And when you err and do not keep all these commandments, which the Lord spoke to Moses,
  • 23. yes, everything that the Lord commanded you through Moses, from the day that the Lord commanded him and from then on throughout your generations,
  • 24. then, if it was done in error, without the knowledge of the congregation, the whole congregation will offer a bull as a burnt offering, of a sweet smell to the Lord, with their meat offering and their drink offering, according to the rite, and a goat as a sin offering.
  • 25. And the priest will make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and his error will be forgiven; for this is for the whole congregation, and for the stranger who sojourns among them; because all the people erred through ignorance.
  • 26. And when a person sins by mistake and does anything that the Lord has commanded him not to do, and thus commits one of these things,
  • 27. Then, when the sin he has committed becomes known to him, he will bring his offering, a goat without blemish, as his offering for the sin he has committed.
  • 28. And the priest will make atonement for the error he committed, through a mistake he did not know, and he will be forgiven.
  • 29. In the same way it will be done to the native of the children of Israel, as to the foreigner who sojourns among them.
  • 30. But the soul that does this purposefully, whether native or foreign, outrages the Lord, such a soul will be cut off from his people.
  • 31. Because he despised the word of the Lord and did his will, such a soul will be cut off from his people.

Disregard for the law of the Sabbath leads to death

  • 32. While the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
  • 33. And they that found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation.
  • 34. And they put him in prison, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
  • 35. Then the Lord said to Moses: Surely that man will be killed; The whole congregation will stone him outside the camp.
  • 36. And all the congregation brought him out of the camp and stoned him, and he died, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Tassels on clothes

  • 37. The Lord also said to Moses:
  • 38. Speak to the children of Israel and tell them that throughout their generations they should make fringes on the edges of their clothes, and that they should put a blue cord on the fringes of the edges.
  • 39. You shall have it in your fringes, that you may see it and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them; and ye shall not go after your heart, nor after your eyes, for whose sake ye commit adultery.
  • 40. That you may remember all my commandments and do them, and be holy to your God.
  • 41. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. I am the Lord your God.
