Impurities of man

  • 1. And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
  • 2. Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When any man has a seminal emission from his flesh, his emission shall be unclean.
  • 3. And this shall be his filthiness in his emission: that his flesh shall run away in his emission, or his flesh shall be obstructed in his emission; this is your filth.
  • 4. Every bed on which the man who has the issue lies will be unclean; and everything on which it sits will be unclean.
  • 5. And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 6. And whoever sits on that on which the man who has the issue sat will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he will be unclean until the evening.
  • 7. And whoever touches the flesh of the man who has the issue, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 8. And if he who has the emission spits on him that is clean, then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 9. And every dung cell in which he who has the emission lies will be unclean; everything on which it sits will be unclean.
  • 10. And whoever touches anything that was under him will be unclean until the evening; and whoever carries it will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he will be unclean until the evening.
  • 11. And everyone whom he who has the emission touches shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 12. And the earthen vessel, which touches him that hath the emission, shall be broken; and every wooden vessel shall be washed with water.
  • 13. And when he has finished purifying himself from his emission, seven days will be counted for his purification; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and he shall be clean.
  • 14. And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and shall come before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall give them to the priest.
  • 15. And the priest shall offer that which is for the sin offering first, and shall make atonement for it before the LORD for its commission.
  • 16. Also the man who has the emission shall wash his flesh in living water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 17. And all clothing, and all skin, which has semen on it, shall be washed with water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 18. The woman with whom the man has also sown seed, they shall both bathe with water, and they shall be unclean until evening.

Woman's impurities

  • 19. And when the woman has a discharge, and the uncleanness from which she suffers is of her flesh, she shall be separated seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 20. And everything on which she lies during her separation will be unclean; also everything on which it sits will be unclean.
  • 21. And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 22. And whoever touches anything on which she sat, he must wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and he will be unclean until the evening.
  • 23. And if it be upon the bed, or upon that on which it sits, when he that toucheth it, be unclean, he shall be unclean until the evening.
  • 24. And if any man lieth with her, and her filthiness be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; also every bed on which he lies will be unclean.
  • 25. Also, when a woman has an issue of blood for many days outside the time of her separation, or when she has an issue beyond the time of her separation, all the days of her issue she will be unclean, as in the days of her separation.
  • 26. Every bed on which he lies every day of his issue will be like the bed of his separation; and whatever it sits on, it will be unclean, like its uncleanness at separation.
  • 27. And whoever touches them will be unclean, and he will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he will be unclean until the evening.
  • 28. But if she is clean from her discharge, then she will count seven days for her purification, and then she will purify herself.
  • 29. And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and bring them to the priest at the door of the tent of meeting.
  • 30. Then the priest will offer one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; so the priest will make atonement for her, of her discharge, before the LORD.
  • 31. So you will separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, and they will not die in their uncleanness, defiling my tabernacle, which is in their midst.
  • 32. This is the law of him who has a discharge, and of him from whom seed comes, and thereby becomes unclean,
  • 33. And of her that is sick in her discharge, and of her that hath the emission, of both man and of woman, and of the woman that is separated because of her uncleanness, and of the man that lieth with her.
