  • 1. After Joshua’s death, the Israelites turned to the Lord and asked, “Who will be the first to attack the Canaanites?”
  • 2. The Lord answered, “Judah will be first; I have given the land into your hands.”
  • 3. Then the men of Judah said to their brothers in Simeon, “Come with us to the territory assigned to us by lot, and let us fight against the Canaanites. We will go to the territory together.” And Simeon's men went with them.
  • 4. When the men of Judah attacked, the Lord delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands, and they killed ten thousand men in Bezek.
  • 5. It was there that they met Adoni-Bezek, fought against him and defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
  • 6. Adoni-Bezek fled, but they pursued him and arrested him, and cut off his thumbs and his thumbs.

  • 26. He then went to the land of the Hittites, where he founded a city and named it Luz, which is its name to this day.
  • 27. But the tribe of Manasseh did not expel the people of Bethshean, the people of Taanach, the people of Dor, the people of Ibleam, the people of Megiddo, nor the people of the villages around these cities, because the Canaanites were determined to remain in that city. Earth.

  • 31. Asher did not expel those who lived in Acco, Sidon, Alab, Achzib, Helba, Aphek and Rehob,
  • 32. and for this reason, the Asherites lived among the Canaanites who inhabited that land.
  • 33. Naphtali did not expel those who lived in Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath; but the Naphthalites lived among the Canaanites who inhabited the land, and those who lived in Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath began to do forced labor for them.
  • 34. The Amorites confined the tribe of Dan to the central mountain range, not allowing them to go down to the valley.
  • 35. And the Amorites also were determined to resist in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim. But as Joseph's tribes grew more powerful, they too were subjected to forced labor.
  • 36. The border of the Amorites ran from the ascent of Ahrabim to Shelah, and beyond.
