Job - Old Testament
Job – Old Testament
  • 1. “My eyes have seen all this, my ears have heard and understood.
  • 2. What you know, I also know; I am not inferior to you.
  • 3. However, I wish to speak to the Almighty; I want to discuss my case with God.
  • 4. You, however, are inventors of lies; you are all useless doctors!
  • 5. If only you would remain silent, that would be considered wisdom on your part.
  • 6. Now listen to my argument, pay attention to the accusations that fall from my lips.
  • 7. You are speaking in defense of God with deceptive and lying words.
  • 8. Are you trying to favor God? Are they defending your cause?
  • 9. That would be a great illusion on your part! Can you deceive God as you deceive human beings?
  • 10. He will surely rebuke you if you are partial in his defense.
  • 11. Doesn't his greatness scare you? Does not his fear fall upon you?
  • 12. You are quoting useless proverbs and making worthless arguments! Your words are like ashes and your defenses are like clay.
  • 13. “Be silent and let me speak; whatever happens to me.
  • 14. Why should I risk my life and put my existence in danger?
  • 15. Even if he kills me, I will still wait for him; I will defend my conduct before him.
  • 16. This will be my salvation: no wicked man can stand before him!
  • 17. Listen carefully to my words; Pay attention to my reasoning.
  • 18. Now that I have prepared my defense, I know that I will be vindicated.
  • 19. Does anyone have an accusation against me? If there is, I will remain silent and die.
  • 20. Grant me only two things, O God, and then I will not hide from you:
  • 21. Keep your hand away from me and do not frighten me with your terror.
  • 22. Then call me, and I will answer, or let me speak, and you will answer.
  • 23. How many mistakes and sins have I made? Reveal to me my transgression and my sin.
  • 24. Why do you hide your face from me and consider me your enemy?
  • 25. Do you want to frighten a leaf carried by the wind and chase the dry straw?
  • 26. For you write bitter things against me and make me inherit the sins of my youth.
  • 27. You set my feet on paths and observe all my ways; marks the limits of my footprints.
  • 28. “So a man is consumed like a rotten thing, like a moth-eaten garment.
