Esau's descendants

• 1. These are the generations of Esau, that is, Edom.
• 2. Esau took his wives from among the daughters of Canaan: Adah, daughter of the Hittite Elon; Oholibama, daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon, a Hivite;
• 3. and Basemath, daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebaioth.
• 4. Adah gave Esau to Eliphaz; Basemate gave it to Reuel;
• 5. and Oholibamama gave Jehus, Jalam and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
• 6. Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, all the people of his house, his flocks, all his animals, and all his cattle and all the possessions that he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and he went to another land, leaving his brother Jacob.
• 7. For their riches were too great for them to dwell together; so that the land of their pilgrimage could not support them because of their flocks.
• 8. So Esau dwelt on Mount Seir. Esau is Edom.
• 9. These are the generations of Esau, father of the Edomites, on Mount Seir.
• 10. These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz, son of Adah, Esau's wife; Reuel, son of Basemath, Esau's wife.
• 11. And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gaethan, Kenaz and Amalek.
• 12. And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shamah and Miza. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife.
• 13. These were the sons of Adah, Esau's wife.
• 14. And these were the sons of Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the son of Zibeon, Esau's wife: Eliphaz the son of Esau, and Jehus, Jalam, and Korah.
• 15. These were the leaders of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz, Esau's firstborn, were these: Teman the leader, Omar the leader, Zepho the leader, Kenaz the leader,
• 16. the chief Korah, the chief Gaethan, the chief Amalek. These were the leaders who came from Eliphaz in the land of Edom; These were the children of Adah.
• 17. These were the sons of Reuel, son of Esau: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shamah, and chief Miza. These were the chiefs who came from Reuel, in the land of Edom; These were the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife.
• 18. These were the sons of Oholibamah, Esau's wife: Jehu the chief, Jalam the chief, and Korah the chief. These were the chiefs who came from Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.
• 19. These were the sons of Esau, that is, Edom, and these were the chiefs who proceeded from him.
• 20. These were the sons of Seir the Hittite, who inhabited the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
• 21. Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These were the leaders of the Hittites, descendants of Seir, in the land of Edom.
• 22. And the sons of Lotan were Hori and Homan. Lotan's sister was Timnah.
• 23. These were the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manna, Ebal, Shepho and Onan.
• 24. These were the sons of Zibeon: Ahiah and Anah. This is the one Anah who found the hot springs in the desert, when he was pasturing the donkeys of Zibeon, his father.
• 25. These were the sons of Anah: Dishon and Oholibama, daughter of Anah.
• 26. These were the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Itram and Cheran.
• 27. These were the sons of Ezer: Bilam, Zaavan and Achan.
• 28. These were the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aram.
• 29. These were the chiefs of the Hittites: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah,
• 30. chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan. These were the leaders of the Hittites, according to their families, leaders in the land of Seir.

The chiefs of Edom

• 31. These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before king reigned over the children of Israel.
• 32. Bela son of Beor reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinabah.
• 33. And Bela died; and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.
• 34. And Jobab died; and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.
• 35. And Husham died; and in his place reigned Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the field of Moab; and the name of his city was Avite.
• 36. And Hadad died; and in his place reigned Samlah of Masrekah.
• 37. And Samlah died; and in his place Saul reigned from Rehoboth by the river.
• 38. And Saul died; and in his place reigned Baal-hanan the son of Achbor.
• 39. And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died; and Hadar reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Paú; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-Zaab.
• 40. These are the names of the leaders of Esau, according to their families, according to their places, according to their names: the chief Timnah, the chief Alva, the chief Jetheth,
• 41. Chief Aolibama, Chief Elah, Chief Pinom,
• 42. chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,
• 43. chief Magdiel, chief Iran. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their dwellings, in the land of their possession. This is Esau, father of the Edomites.
