Memory of the Lord's blessings

  • 1. “Every commandment that I command you today you must be careful to obey, so that you may live and multiply and enter the land that the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors.
  • 2. Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness during these forty years, humbling you and testing you, to know what was in your hearts, whether or not you would obey His commands. his commandments.
  • 9. He humbled you by starving, and then fed you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors knew. He did this to show that man does not live by bread alone, but by everything that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
  • 4. During these forty years, his clothes did not wear out and his feet did not swell.
  • 5. Know therefore in your hearts that just as a father disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
  • 6. Therefore obey the commandments of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and fearing him.
  • 7. For the Lord your God is leading you into a good land, a land of rivers and springs, of springs flowing in the valleys and on the hills,
  • 8. a land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees and pomegranate trees, a land of oil and honey,
  • 9. a land where you will not lack bread and where you will not lack anything, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you will extract copper.
  • 10. When you have eaten and are satisfied, bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
  • 11. Be careful not to forget the Lord your God by failing to fulfill his commandments, laws and decrees that I command you today.
  • 12. When you have eaten and are satisfied, when you have built good houses to live in,
  • 13. when your cattle and your herds have increased, when silver and gold have multiplied for you, and when everything you have has multiplied,
  • 14. then pride will rise in your hearts and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  • 15. He led them through the great and terrible desert, with its poisonous serpents and scorpions, a barren and waterless desert. He made water spring up for you from the hardest rock.
  • 16. In the wilderness he gave you manna to eat, something neither you nor your ancestors knew, to humble you and test you, so that everything would go well for you in the future.
  • 17. And do not say in your hearts, 'It was my power and the strength of my hand that brought me all this wealth.'
  • 18. Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, confirming his covenant, sworn to your ancestors, as it is today.
  • 19. If you forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping them and bowing down to them, I assure you today that you will certainly be destroyed.
  • 20. Just like the nations that the Lord will destroy before you, you too will be destroyed, because you did not obey the Lord your God.”
