Moses dies

  • 1. Then Moses went up from the Valley of Moab to Mount Nebo, at the top of Pisgah, opposite Jericho. The Lord showed him the whole land: from Gilead to Dan,
  • 2. all the region of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,
  • 3. the Negeb and the entire region that goes from the valley of Jericho, the city of Palms, to Zoar.
  • 4. And the Lord said to him, “This is the land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have allowed you to see it with your own eyes, but you will not cross the Jordan River or enter it.”
  • 5. Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in Moab, as the Lord had said.
  • 6. He was buried in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth-peor, but to this day no one knows where his tomb is.
  • 7. Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, but his eyes did not weaken, nor did he lose their strength.
  • 8. The Israelites mourned the death of Moses in the plains of Moab for thirty days, until the period of mourning and mourning came to an end.
  • 9. Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites obeyed him and did everything the Lord had commanded Moses.
  • 10. There never again arose in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.
  • 11. Moses performed signs and wonders that the Lord sent him to do in Egypt, against Pharaoh, all his servants, and all his land.
  • 12. No other man demonstrated such power as Moses and performed such fearsome feats before the eyes of all Israel.
