1 Samuel, Chapter 3:
publicidad
Verses from 1 Samuel, Chapter 3 of the book of 1 Samuel in the Bible.
Samuel called by the Lord
- 1. In those days, the boy Samuel served the Lord under the guidance of Eli. However, the Lord rarely spoke, and visions were scarce.
- 2. One night, Eli was lying in his place, because his eyes were getting weak and he could no longer see well.
- 3. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying in the sanctuary of the Lord, where the ark of God was.
- 4. Then the Lord called to Samuel.
- 5. Samuel replied, “I am here.” He ran to Eli and said, “I am here; Did you call me?” Eli replied, “I did not call him; go back and lie down.” Then Samuel came back and lay down.
- 6. The Lord called Samuel again: “Samuel!” And Samuel arose and went to Eli, saying, “I am here; Did you call me?” Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy.
- 7. Samuel did not yet know the Lord and had not received the word of the Lord.
- 8. The Lord called Samuel a third time. Samuel got up, went to Eli and said, “I'm here; Did you call me?” Then Eli understood that it was the Lord who was calling the boy.
- 9. Eli said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again. If anyone calls you, say, 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.' Samuel went and lay down.
- 10. The Lord called Samuel again, as before: “Samuel, Samuel!” Samuel replied, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
- 11. Then the Lord said to Samuel, “I am going to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears about it ring.
- 12. On that day I will fulfill against Eli everything I said about his family, from the beginning to the end.
- 13. For I declared to him that I would judge his family forever because of the sin of his children, of which he was aware. His children became despicable, and he did not rebuke them.
- 14. Therefore I swore to the family of Eli that there would never be propitiation for their sins through sacrifice or offering.”
- 15. Samuel lay there until the next morning, and then he opened the doors of the house of the Lord. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision,
- 16. But Eli called him and said, “Samuel, my son.” Samuel replied, “I’m here.”
- 17. Then Eli asked, “What did the Lord say to you? Don't hide anything from me. May God punish you severely if you hide from me any word he spoke.”
- 18. Then Samuel told Eli everything and hid nothing. And Eli said, “He is the Lord; let him do what seems best to him.”
- 19. As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him and fulfilled all the words he spoke.
- 20. And all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, recognized that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord.
- 21. The Lord continued to appear in Shiloh, where he revealed himself to Samuel through his word.
