Verses from Judges, Chapter 17 of the book of Judges in the Bible.
Mica's idols
- 1. There was a man named Raul, from the mountains of Sefarim.
- 2. He said to his mother, “That silver that was stolen from you, those thirty pounds, is actually with me. I got her.” His mother replied, “May the Lord bless you, my son!”
- 3. Then he returned the silver to his mother. She separated two kilos and four hundred grams, and said: “I consecrate this silver to the Lord so that my son can make a carved image and a metal idol. I return it to you.”
- 4. However, he returned the silver to his mother, and she took some of it and gave it to a goldsmith, who made an image and an idol. And they were placed in Raul's house.
- 5. Raul had a shrine in his home, where he also made a priestly robe and some idols for his family. He appointed one of his sons as his priest.
- 6. In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what they thought was right.
- 7. At that same time, a young Levite from Bethlehem, from the tribe of Judah, set out in search of a place to live. During his journey, he arrived at Raul's house in the mountains of Sefarim.
- 8. Raul asked: “Where do you come from?” The young Levite replied, “I am a Levite from Bethlehem, from the tribe of Judah, and I am looking for a place to live.”
- 10. Raul said to him, “Stay with me and be my father and priest. I will give you one hundred and twenty grams of silver a year, clothes and food.”
- 11. The young Levite agreed to stay with Raoul and became like one of his sons.
- 12. Raul welcomed the Levite and the young man became his priest, living in his house.
- 13. Raul said, “Now I know that the Lord will show me kindness, for this Levite has become my priest.”
