  • 1. Do you powerful people really speak justly? Do you men judge righteously?
  • 2. No! In your heart you plot injustice; his hands spread violence across the land.
  • 3. From the womb the wicked stray from the path; From birth, liars go astray.
  • 4. Their poisons are like the venom of a serpent, like deaf snakes that close their ears,
  • 5. so as not to hear the music of enchanters, of those who enchant with skill.
  • 6. O God, break their teeth in their mouths; Take away, Lord, the fangs of these lions!
  • 7. May they be like flowing waters that disappear when you step on them; may, when they take up the bow, their arrows fail!
  • 8. May they be like a slug that melts, like a miscarriage that never sees the sun.
  • 9. Before his pots feel the heat of the thorns, green or dry, he will sweep them away.
  • 10. The righteous will rejoice when they contemplate revenge; they will bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.
  • 11. Then men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who does justice on earth.”
