Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1. Have mercy on me, O God, for men pressure me; they continually attack and oppress me.
  • 2. My enemies press me without ceasing; many stand up proudly against me.
  • 3. But when I feel afraid, I put my trust in you.
  • 4. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and fear not. What can a mere mortal do to me?
  • 5. They distort my words all the time; all your thoughts are evil against me.
  • 6. They gather, stalk my steps, waiting for the opportunity to take my life.
  • 7. Will they get away with it? O God, in your wrath bring down the nations.
  • 8. You yourself count my afflictions; collect my tears in your bottle. Are they recorded in your book?
  • 9. My enemies will turn back when I cry for help. With this I will know that God is on my side.
  • 10. I trust in God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise.
  • 11. In God I trust and do not fear. What can man do to me?
  • 12. I will fulfill the vows I made to you, O God; I will offer you sacrifices of gratitude.
  • 13. For you have saved me from death and my feet from stumbling, so that I can walk before God in the light that shines on the living.
