Psalms, Chapter 42:

1. As the deer pants for the water streams, so my soul pants for you, O God.
2. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I have the opportunity to appear before God?
3. My tears have been my food day and night, as I am constantly asked, “Where is your God?”
4. When I remember these things, my soul is deeply saddened. I used to walk with the crowd, taking them to the House of God amidst voices of joy and praise, amid the feast of those who celebrate.
5. Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why are you so upset inside me? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise you, my Savior and my God.
6. My soul is deeply distressed; Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, from the mountains of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
7. Deep cries for deep at the roaring of your torrents; all your waves and billows crash over me.
8. During the day, the Lord bestows his faithful love, and during the night, his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
9. I will say to God, my Rock: “Why have you forgotten me? Why should I walk in tears, oppressed by the enemy?”
10. My bones are in sharp pain, while my adversaries mock me, asking all the time, “Where is your God?”
11. Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why are you so upset inside me? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise you, my Savior and my God.
