• 1. If the Lord is not the builder of the house, the efforts of the builders will be in vain. If it is not the Lord who guards the city, the vigil of the guards will be useless.
• 2. It will be in vain that you get up early and go to bed late, working hard for food. For the Lord grants sleep to those He loves.
• 3. Children are an inheritance from the Lord, a gift that He grants.
• 4. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are children born in youth.
• 5. How happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! You will not be embarrassed when you face your enemies in court.
