The excellence of wisdom

  • 1. Listen, my children, to the advice of a loving father; Pay attention and you will understand the wisdom I transmit to you.
  • 2. The teaching I share with you is of great value; therefore, never abandon or disregard it.
  • 3. Remembering my own childhood, when I was little and with my father, a beloved son in my mother's eyes,
  • 4. He instructed and advised me: “Keep my words in your heart; Obey my commandments and you will find fullness of life.
  • 5. Always seek wisdom and understanding; never deviate from my words.
  • 6. Embrace wisdom hard, and it will be your protector; love her, and she will watch over you.
  • 7. The supreme advice is: seek to acquire wisdom; dedicate yourself tirelessly to understanding.
  • 8. Honor and exalt wisdom, and she will honor you; embrace her fervently, and she will grant you dignity.
  • 9. Then a magnificent adornment will be placed on your head, and a crown of splendor will be presented to you.”
  • 10. My son, listen to my words and accept my teachings, and your life will be long and blessed.
  • 11. I have led you in the paths of wisdom and guided you in straight paths.
  • 12. Thus, when you follow them, you will not encounter obstacles, and when you run, you will not stumble.
  • 13. Stay firm in my instruction, never abandon it, because your existence depends on it.
  • 14. Turn aside from the path of the wicked and do not follow the path of the wicked.
  • 15. Avoid him, do not stop, nor approach him.
  • 16. For the wicked cannot rest without doing evil; They lose sleep if they don't cause someone's ruin.
  • 17. They feed on wickedness and get drunk on violence.
  • 18On the other hand, the way of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until the day is completely bright.
  • 19. But the path of the wicked is like thick darkness; They don't even realize what they're tripping over.
  • 20. My son, pay attention to what I say to you; keep my words in your heart.
  • 21. Never lose sight of them; Keep them in the depths of your being.
  • 22. For they are life to those who find them and health to their entire being.
  • 23. Above all, guard your heart, because your whole life depends on it.
  • 24. Put away wicked words from your lips and keep wickedness out of your mouth.
  • 25. Fix your eyes on the horizon, keeping your gaze fixed on what is in front of you.
  • 26. Watch carefully where you walk, and your steps will be safe.
  • 27. Do not turn to the right or to the left; turn your feet away from evil and remain on the straight path.
