- 8. The Lord hates the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the righteous pleases him.
- 9. The Lord hates the way of the wicked, but loves those who seek righteousness.
- 10. There is a severe lesson for anyone who forsakes his way, and whoever despises reproof will die.
- 11. The Grave and Destruction are before the Lord, how much more the hearts of men!
- 12. A scoffer does not like to be corrected, nor does he seek help from a wise man.
- 13. The joy of the heart shines on the face, but the anguished heart oppresses the spirit.
- 14. The heart that seeks discernment seeks knowledge, while the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.
- 15. All the days of the oppressed are unhappy, but the well-disposed heart is always celebrating.
- 16. It is better to have little with the fear of the Lord, than great wealth with worry.
- 17. It is better to have vegetables in a meal where there is love, than a fat ox accompanied by hate.
- 18. An irritable man provokes dissension, but he who is patient calms the discussion.
- 19. The path of the lazy is full of thorns, but the path of the righteous is a level road.
- 20. A wise son brings joy to his father, but a fool despises his mother.
- 21. Folly makes those who lack common sense happy, but a man of understanding acts uprightly.
- 22. Plans fail for lack of advice, but they succeed when there are many advisors.
- 23. Giving an appropriate answer is a reason for joy, and how good advice at the right time is!
- 24. The path of life leads upward whoever is sensible, lest he go down to the grave.
- 25. The Lord tears down the house of the proud, but keeps the boundaries of the widow's property intact.
- 26. The Lord hates the thoughts of evil people, but He is pleased with words spoken without malice.
- 27. A miser puts his family in trouble, but whoever repudiates bribery will live.
- 28. The righteous think carefully before responding, but the mouth of the wicked spews evil.
- 29. The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
- 30. An encouraging look brings joy to the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.
- 31. Whoever hears constructive reproof will have a permanent place among the wise.
- 32. Whoever refuses discipline makes light of himself, but whoever listens to reproof gains understanding.
- 33. The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom, and humility precedes honor.
