Impurities of man

  • 1. And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
  • 2. Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When any man has a seminal emission from his flesh, his emission is unclean.
  • 3. And this shall be his uncleanness in his emission, that his flesh shall run out his emission, or his flesh shall be obstructed in his emission: this is his uncleanness.
  • 4. Every bed on which a man who has an emission lies shall be unclean, and anything on which he sits shall be unclean.
  • 5. And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 6. And he that sitteth upon that whereon the man that hath the emission sat shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 7. And he that toucheth the flesh of the man that hath the emission shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 8. And if he that hath an emission spit upon him that is clean, then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 9. And every dunghill wherein he that hath an emission lieth shall be unclean; whatsoever he sitteth upon shall be unclean.
  • 10. And he that toucheth any thing that was under him shall be unclean until the even: and he that beareth it shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 11. And everyone whom the one who has the emission touches shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
  • 12. And any earthen vessel, which he that hath the emission toucheth, shall be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be washed with water.
  • 13. And when he hath made an end of purifying himself from his emission, then he shall count off seven days for his purification: and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and he shall be clean.
  • 14. And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and come before the LORD, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and give them to the priest.
  • 15. And the priest shall offer that which is for the sin offering first, and make an atonement for him for his emission before the LORD for his emission.
  • 16. And the man that hath the emission shall wash his flesh in running water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 17. And every garment, and every skin, wherein is semen, shall be washed with water, and shall be unclean until the even.
  • 18. And the woman with whom the man has lain seed, both of them shall bathe with water, and be unclean until the even.

Women's impurities

  • 19. And when a woman hath an issue, and her uncleanness, wherein she suffereth, is of her flesh, then she shall be separated seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.
  • 20. And everything on which she lies during her separation will be unclean; everything on which she sits will be unclean.
  • 21. And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 22. And whoever touches anything on which she sat shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
  • 23. And if it be upon the bed, or upon any thing whereon it sitteth, and he that toucheth it, be unclean, he shall be unclean until the even.
  • 24. And if any man lie with her, and her uncleanness be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days: and every bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean.
  • 25. Also, if a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, outside the time of her separation, or if she has a discharge beyond the time of her separation, all the days of her discharge she will be unclean, as in the days of her separation.
  • 26. Every bed on which she lies all the days of her discharge shall be to her as the bed of her separation; and anything on which she sits shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation.
  • 27. And whoever touches them shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
  • 28. But if she is clean from her discharge, then she shall count off seven days for her purification, and then she shall purify herself.
  • 29. And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
  • 30. Then the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering, and the priest shall make atonement for her before the LORD concerning her discharge.
  • 31. Thus you shall separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, and they shall not die in their uncleanness, by defiling my tabernacle that is among them.
  • 32. This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him that hath seed goeth forth, and is defiled thereby:
  • 33. And of her that is sick with her issue, and of her that hath an emission, both of the man and of the woman, and of the woman that is separated because of her uncleanness, and of the man that lieth with her.
