Purification after childbirth

1. The Lord said to Moses:
2. Speak to the children of Israel, saying: If a woman conceives and gives birth to a son, she will be unclean seven days, just as in the days of the uncleanness of her illness she will be unclean.
3. And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
4. Then she will remain thirty-three days in the blood of her purification; He shall not touch any holy thing, nor enter the sanctuary until the days of his purification are completed.
5. But if she gives birth to a girl, she will be unclean for two weeks, as in her uncleanness; then he will remain sixty-six days in the blood of his purification.
6. And when the days of his purification are fulfilled, for the son or for the daughter, he shall bring a lamb a year old for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering, to the door of the tent of meeting to the priest.
7. And he shall offer them before the Lord, and make atonement for her; then it will be cleansed from the flow of its blood; This is the law for those who give birth to a boy or a girl.
8. But if he does not find enough hands for a lamb, then he shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; so the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.
