Bildade
- 1. Then Bildad of Shuah answered:
- 2. “How long will you continue to speak? Use reason, and then we can talk.
- 3. Why are we considered as animals, and we are ignorant in their eyes?
- 4. Ah, you, who are filled with fury! Will the earth be abandoned because of you? Will the rocks move?
- 5. “The lamp of the wicked goes out, and the flame of his fire is extinguished.
- 6. In his tent the light is darkened; the lamp of your life goes out.
- 7. Firm steps weaken, and your own plans lead you to fall.
- 8. By his own feet he is ensnared, and caught in his own trap.
- 9. The trap catches him by the heel, and the snare holds him fast.
- 10. The slippery snare is hidden in the earth, ready to catch you, and there is a trap in its path.
- 11. Terrors surround him on every side, and pursue him at every step.
- 12.Calamity stalks him, and misfortune awaits him in his fall.
- 13. They devour his skin in pieces, the firstborn of death consumes the members of his body.
- 14. He is torn from his safety, and is led to the king of terrors.
- 15. Fire dwells in his tent; over his dwelling, burning sulfur is spread.
- 16. Its roots dry up below, and its branches wither above.
- 17. His remembrance fades from the earth, and his name is remembered no more.
- 18. He is cast out of darkness into the light, and is banished from the world.
- 19. He has no children or descendants among his people, and there are no survivors in his dwelling.
- 20. .The gods of the west are astonished at their ruin, and those of the east are filled with horror.
- 21. Such is the abode of the wicked, such is the condition of those who do not know God.”
