- 1. Then Job replied:
- 2. “Until now my complaint is bitter; His hand weighs on me despite my moan.
- 3. I wish I knew where to find you and could get to your room!
- 4. I would present my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.
- 5. I would like to know the words with which he would answer me and understand what he would say to me.
- 6. Would he use great power against me? No, he would just take it into account.
- 7. Then the righteous man could plead with him; and so I would get rid of my Judge forever.
- 8. “If I went east, he wouldn't be there; If I went west I wouldn't find it.
- 9. When he acts in the north, I do not see him; When it moves south, I don't notice it.
- 10. But he knows the path I am taking; If you put me to the test, I would come out like gold.
- 11. My feet have closely followed your footsteps; I have remained on your path, without deviating.
- 12. I have not departed from the commandments of his lips; I valued the words of your mouth more than my daily food.
- 13. “He is one, and who will lead him astray? Whatever he desires, he will do.
- 14. He will fulfill his purpose for me, and there are many other plans in his heart.
- 15. Therefore, terrified, I cower before him; When I think about it, I get scared.
- 16. God made my heart faint; the Almighty filled me with fear.
- 17. However, I was not destroyed by darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.
