  • 1. Then the Lord said to Noah: Enter into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen you righteous before me in this generation.
  • 2. Of every clean animal you shall take with you seven by seven, the male and his female; but of the animals that are not clean, two, the male and his female.
  • 3. Also of the birds of the heavens seven and seven, male and female, to keep their kind alive on the face of the whole earth.
  • 4. For after yet another seven days I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights; and from the surface of the earth I will exterminate all the beings that I have made.
  • 5. And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.
  • 6. Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth.
  • 7. And Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, entered the ark because of the waters of the flood.
  • 8. Of the clean beasts, and of the beasts that were not clean, of the birds, and of every creeping thing upon the earth,
  • 9. Two by two, male and female, they entered the ark with Noah, as God had commanded Noah.
  • 10. After seven days, the waters of the flood came upon the earth.
  • 11. In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that same day all the fountains of the great deep were burst open, and the windows of the heavens were opened,
  • 12. and there was rain on the earth forty days and forty nights.
  • 13. That same day Noah, his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth, his wife and the three wives of his sons entered the ark,
  • 14. them and every beast according to its kind, every livestock according to its kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, yes, every bird of every kind.
  • 15. Of all flesh in which there was the breath of life, they entered Noah into the ark two by two;
  • 16. and those who entered were male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
  • 17. The flood came upon the earth for forty days; and the waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose above the earth.
  • 18. The waters increased and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters.
  • 19. The waters prevailed excessively over the earth; and all the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.
  • 20. Fifteen cubits above the waters prevailed; and the mountains were covered.
  • 21. All flesh that moved on the earth perished, including birds, cattle, wild animals, all reptiles that moved on the earth, and all human beings.
  • 22. Everything that had the breath of life in its nostrils, everything that was on dry land, died.
  • 23. Thus, all beings that were on the face of the earth were exterminated: both human beings and animals, reptiles and birds of the air; all were exterminated from the earth. Only Noah remained and those who were with him in the ark.
  • 24. The waters prevailed over the earth for one hundred and fifty days.
