The altar of the Holocaust

  • 1. And he made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood; five cubits was its length, and five cubits its breadth; it was square, and three cubits was its height.
  • 2. And he made spikes on its four corners; its spikes came out of it; and covered it with copper.
  • 3. He also made all the utensils for the altar; ashtrays, shovels, basins, forks, and braziers; all his utensils he made of copper.
  • 4. And he made for the altar a grate of brass, like a net, beneath its border, in the middle of the altar.
  • 5. And he cast four rings at the four corners of the brass railing, as places for the poles.
  • 6. And he made the staves of acacia wood, and overlaid them with brass.
  • 7. And he put the poles in the rings on one side of the altar, to carry them with them; He made it hollow, out of boards.
  • 8. And he made the laver of brass, and its base of brass, from the mirrors of the women that were gathered together at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

The courtyard

  • 9. And he made the court; on the south side, to the south, the hangings of the court were of fine twined linen; a hundred cubits was its length.
  • 10. And their pillars were twenty, and their brass sockets twenty; the brackets of the columns and their frames were of silver.
  • 11. And on the north side one hundred cubits; its columns twenty, and its copper sockets twenty; the brackets of the columns and their silver frames.
  • 12. And on the west side fifty cubits; its pillars ten, and its bases ten; the brackets of the columns and their silver frames.
  • 13. And from the east to the east, fifty cubits.
  • 14. Fifteen cubits of hangings were on one side; its pillars three, and its bases three.
  • 15. And on the other side, on the side of the door, were curtains of fifteen cubits; its pillars three, and its bases three.
  • 16. All the hangings in the surrounding courtyard were made of fine twined linen.
  • 17. And the bases of the pillars were of copper; the brackets of the columns and their silver frames; and their heads were covered with silver; and all the pillars of the court were girded with silver.
  • 18. And the hanging of the gate of the court was the work of an embroiderer, of blue, and of purple, and of crimson, and of fine twined linen; twenty cubits was its length, and its height in breadth was five cubits, corresponding to the curtains of the court.
  • 19. And its pillars four, and its sockets of brass four; their clasps of silver, and their heads and their frames of silver.
  • 20. And all the stakes of the tabernacle, and of the court round about, were of brass.

The materials used

  • 21. These are the accounts of the tabernacle, of the tabernacle of testimony, which were counted according to the commandment of Moses, through Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.
  • 22. And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, did all that the LORD commanded Moses.
  • 23. And with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an apprentice, and expert, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple, and in crimson, and in fine linen.
  • 24. All the gold that was used in the work in all the work of the sanctuary, the gold of the heave offerings, was twenty-nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.
  • 25. And the silver of the pies of the congregation was one hundred talents, and one thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.
  • 26. One gown per head, half a shekel, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, for everyone who passed to the numbered, from the age of twenty years and upward, to six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
  • 27. And of the hundred talents of silver were cast the foundations of the sanctuary, and the foundations of the veil; one hundred bases of the hundred talents, one talent per base.
  • 28. And of the thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels he made clasps for the pillars, and covered their heads, and girded them.
  • 29. And the copper of the heave offerings was seventy talents, and two thousand and four hundred shekels.
  • 30. And with it were made the foundations of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the brazen altar, and its brazen trellis, and all the utensils of the altar,
  • 31. And the sockets of the court round about, and the sockets of the gate of the court, and all the pegs of the tabernacle, and all the pegs of the court round about.
