Exodus - Old Testament
Exodus – Old Testament
  • 1. Bezaleel, and Oholiab, and every man who is wise in heart, in whom the LORD has given wisdom and understanding to know how to do all the work of the service of the sanctuary, shall do as the LORD has commanded.
  • 2. Moses called Bezaleel, and Oholiab, and every man wise in heart, to whom the LORD had given wisdom, to everyone whose heart moved him to come to the work to do it.
  • 3. They therefore received from Moses all the heave offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the sanctuary service, to do it. And they continued to bring him freewill offerings in the morning.
  • 4. Then came all the wise men, who did all the work of the sanctuary, each one coming from the work he had done.
  • 5. And they said to Moses: The people bring more than enough for the work which the LORD commanded to be done.
  • 6. Then Moses gave the order, and they sent a proclamation throughout the camp, saying: Let no man or woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were prevented from bringing more.
  • 7. For the things they had were sufficient to do all the work, and there was still some left over.

The tabernacle

  • 8. All the wise men who did all the work of the sanctuary made ten curtains of fine twined linen, and of blue, and of purple, and of crimson; and they made them with cherubim, the work of craftsman.
  • 9. The length of one curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the width was four cubits; all the curtains had the same size.
  • 10. And he gathered them five into one, and the other five he gathered into another.
  • 11. And he made loops of blue at the end of a curtain, at the end of the last; He also did this at the end of the other curtain, at the end of the second.
  • 12. Fifty loops he made on one curtain, and another fifty he made on the edge of the curtain that was at the second junction; the loops were facing each other.
  • 13. He also made fifty gold clasps, with which he joined the curtains together, so that it became one tabernacle.
  • 14. He also made curtains of goats' hair for the tent over the tabernacle; made eleven curtains.
  • 15. The length of one curtain was thirty cubits, and the width was four cubits; all the curtains had the same size.
  • 16. And he gathered five of them separately, and six others also separately.
  • 17. And he made fifty loops at the end of the curtain, at the end of the first; He also made another fifty loops at the end of the curtain that was at the second junction.
  • 18. He also made fifty bronze clasps to join the tent together, so that it would be one.
  • 19. He also made a covering for the tent of sheepskins dyed red, and another covering of badgers' skins on top.
  • 20. He also made boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, which stood.
  • 21. The length of a board was ten cubits, and the width was one and a half cubits.
  • 22. Each board had two tenons; He did this to all the boards of the tabernacle.
  • 23. So he made the boards for the tabernacle; twenty boards toward the south, toward the south.
  • 24. And he made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two bases under one board, for its two tenons, and two bases under the other board, for its two tenons.
  • 25. And for the other side of the tabernacle, which was towards the north side, he made twenty boards,
  • 26. and its forty sockets of silver; two bases under one board, and two bases under the other.
  • 27. And for the back of the tabernacle, toward the west side, he made six boards.
  • 28. He made two more boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the bottom.
  • 29. And they were juxtaposed from below and connected together above with a ring; He did this with both of them in both corners.
  • 30. And there were eight tables, and their bases of silver; sixteen bases; two bases under one board, and two bases under the other.
  • 31. He also made bars of acacia wood; five for the boards on one side of the tabernacle,
  • 32. and five bars for the boards on the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards at the bottom of the tabernacle, on the west side.
  • 33. And he made the middle beam go through the boards from one end to the other.
  • 34. And he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold, to put in the bars; He also covered the dishes with gold.
  • 35. And he made the veil of blue, and of purple, and of crimson, and of fine twined linen; and he made in it cherubims made of workmanship.
  • 36. And he made for it four pillars of acacia wood, and overlaid them with gold; their clasps were of gold; and cast four silver bases for them.
  • 37. He also made a curtain for the door of the tabernacle, of blue, and purple, and crimson, and of fine twined linen, the work of an embroiderer,
  • 38. and its five columns, with their brackets; and he covered their heads and their frames with gold; but its five bases were of bronze.
