Easter

  • 1. “Remember to observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover in honor of the Lord your God. It was in that month, during the night, that he brought you out of Egypt.
  • 2. Offer as a Passover sacrifice to the Lord your God an animal from your flock, whether an ox or a sheep, in the place he chooses to dwell.
  • 3. Do not eat the sacrifice with leavened bread; for seven days eat unleavened bread, symbolizing the distress of your hasty departure from Egypt. This will be a constant reminder throughout your life.
  • 4. During these seven days, do not allow any leaven to appear in your land, and do not let any of the Passover sacrifice remain until the next day.
  • 5. You shall not offer the Passover in any town which the Lord your God gives you;
  • 6. only in the place he chooses to dwell. There you will offer the Passover sacrifice at sunset on the day you left Egypt.
  • 7. Cook the meat of the sacrifice and eat it at the place the Lord your God chooses. In the morning each of you may return to his tent.
  • 8. For six days eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day hold an assembly to the Lord your God; do no work.

The feast of the weeks

  • 9. Count seven weeks from the moment you begin harvesting the grain.
  • 10. Then celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God by bringing a freewill offering in proportion to the blessings he has given you.
  • 11. Rejoice before the Lord your God in the place he chooses to dwell, together with your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your Levites, your foreigners, your orphans and your widows who live in your towns.
  • 12. Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and be careful to obey these decrees.

The Feast of Tabernacles

  • 13. And you shall celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered in your grain and wine.
  • 14. Rejoice at this festival together with your sons, daughters, male and female servants, Levites, foreigners, orphans and widows living in your towns.
  • 15. During the seven days of the festival, offer sacrifices to the Lord your God at the place he will choose. The Lord will bless you abundantly in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.
  • 16. “Three times a year all your men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. No one must appear before the Lord empty-handed;
  • 17. Each one will bring an offering according to the blessings he has received from the Lord his God.

The judges

  • 18. Appoint judges and officers in all your towns, according to the tribes the Lord your God has given you. They are to judge the people fairly.
  • 19. Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept bribes, for bribes blind the eyes of the wise and harm the cause of the righteous.
  • 20. Follow only righteousness, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.

No to idolatry

  • 21. You shall not set up any Asherah pole beside the altar you build to the Lord your God,
  • 22. Do not set up sacred pillars, for this is detestable to the Lord your God.
