Verses from Psalms Chapter 69 of the book of Psalms in the Bible.
- 1. Save me, O God, for the waters are rising up to my neck.
- 2. I sink into deep mud, where there is no place to stand; I entered deep waters, and the currents carried me away.
- 3. I got tired of crying; my throat became inflamed. My eyes weaken from waiting for my God.
- 4. Those who hate me without reason are more numerous than the hairs on my head; Many are those who seek to destroy me, those who attack me falsely. Should I return what I didn't steal?
- 5. You know my folly, O God; my sins are not hidden from you.
- 6. Do not be disappointed because of me, those who hope in you, O Lord, God of hosts! Do not be ashamed because of me, those who seek you, O God of Israel!
- 7. Because of you I have endured ridicule, shame covers my face.
- 8. I have become a stranger to my brothers, a stranger to my mother's children.
- 9. For zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall upon me.
- 10. When I cry and fast, they mock me.
- 11. When I dress in sackcloth, I become an object of ridicule.
- 12. Those who sit at the door talk about me, and I am the subject of drunkards' songs.
- 13. But I, Lord, lift up my prayer to you in the favorable time; Answer me, O God, by your great mercy, with your infallible salvation!
- 14. Take me out of the quagmire, don't let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me and from the deep waters.
- 15. Do not allow the currents to carry me away, nor the abyss swallow me, nor the pit close its mouth over me!
- 16. Answer me, Lord, in the kindness of your love; by your great mercy, turn to me.
- 17. Do not hide your servant's face; answer me quickly, for I am in danger.
- 18. Come near me and rescue me; deliver me for the sake of my enemies.
- 19. You know how I suffer mockery, shame and humiliation; you know all my opponents.
- 20. The mockery has broken my heart, and I am in despair. I waited for someone who had compassion, but I didn't find one; for comforters, but I found them not.
- 21. They put gall in my food and to quench my thirst they gave me vinegar.
- 22. Let their table become a trap; let your prosperity become a trap.
- 23. Let their eyes be darkened, that they cannot see; make your hips shake continuously.
- 24. Pour out your wrath on them; may your burning fury reach them.
- 25. Let your dwelling be deserted; there is no one to live in their tents.
- 26. For they persecute those you have injured and increase the pain of those you have punished.
- 27. Add iniquity to their iniquity; do not have access to your justice.
- 28. Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and not be written with the righteous.
- 29. But I am poor and I am suffering; O God, your salvation protect me!
- 30. I will praise the name of God with songs and proclaim his greatness with thanksgiving.
- 31. This will please the Lord more than oxen, more than bulls with their horns and hooves.
- 32. Those in need will see it and rejoice. You who seek God, live your heart!
- 33. The Lord listens to those in need and does not despise his prisoners.
- 34. Let the heavens and the earth, the seas and everything that moves in them, praise him,
- 35. for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah. The people will live there and take possession of the land;
- 36. the descendants of his servants will inherit it, and those who love his name will dwell in it.
