- 1. Rejoice in the Lord, O righteous ones; praise is due to the upright.
- 2. Praise the Lord with the harp; sing to him with the ten-string lyre.
- 3. Sing him a new song; play with skill when acclaiming him.
- 4. For the word of the Lord is true; he is faithful in everything he does.
- 5. He loves justice and law; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
- 6. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all the stars.
- 7. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; puts the abysses into deposits.
- 8. Fear the Lord, all the earth; let all the inhabitants of the world tremble before him.
- 9. For he spoke, and it was done; he ordered, and everything came into being.
- 10. The Lord undoes the plans of the nations and frustrates the purposes of the people.
- 11. But the plans of the Lord remain firm forever, the purposes of his heart, throughout all generations.
- 12. How happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose to belong to him!
- 13. The Lord looks down from heaven and sees all the children of men;
- 14. from his throne he observes all the inhabitants of the earth;
- 15. he forms the hearts of them all, and beholds all their works.
- 16. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
- 17. The horse is a vain hope of victory; despite its great strength, it cannot save.
- 18. But the Lord protects those who fear him, those who hope in his steadfast love,
- 19. to deliver them from death and preserve them in times of famine.
- 20. Our hope is in the Lord; he is our help and our protection.
- 21. Our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name.
- 22. May your love be upon us, Lord, for we hope in you.
