Psalms - Old Testament
Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1, O Lord, God of my salvation, I cry to you day and night.
  • 2, May my prayer reach your presence; incline your ears to my cry!
  • 3, For my soul is full of anguish, and my life draws near to Sheol.
  • 4, I am numbered among those who go down to the pit; I am like a man without strength,
  • 5, abandoned among the dead, like the corpses that lie in the tomb, which you no longer remember, because they were excluded from your presence.
  • 6, You cast me into the deepest abyss, into the darkest regions.
  • 7, Your wrath weighs upon me; with all your waves you afflicted me.
  • 8, You have removed my acquaintances from me; you made me a horror to them. I am closed, and I cannot go out;
  • 9, my eyes are weakened by affliction. To you, Lord, I cry all day long; I extend my hands to you.
  • 10, Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do the dead rise and praise you?
  • 11, Is your love proclaimed in the tomb and your faithfulness in the Abyss of Death?
  • 12, Shall thy wonders be known in the land of darkness, and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
  • 13, But I, Lord, call to you for help; In the morning my prayer reaches your presence.
  • 14, Why, Lord, do you reject me and hide your face from me?
  • 15, Since I was young I have suffered and been close to death; your terrors have destroyed me.
  • 16, Your anger has passed over me; your fears have destroyed me.
  • 17, They surround me all day like a flood; they involve me completely.
  • 18, You took friends and companions away from me; darkness is my only company.
