Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1. Sing with joy to God, our strength; Acclaim the God of Jacob.
  • 2. Sing a song and bring the tambourine, the sweet harp and the psaltery.
  • 3. Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the time set for our feast.
  • 4. For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
  • 5. He established it as a statute in Joseph when he went out against the land of Egypt. I heard a language I didn't know, it said:
  • 6. I removed his shoulder from the burden; their hands were free from the baskets.
  • 7. In distress you cried out, and I delivered you; I answered you in the hidden place of thunder; I tested you in the waters of Meribá.
  • 8. Hear, O my people, and I will warn you; O Israel, if you would listen to me!
  • 9. There will be no foreign god among you, nor will you worship a strange goddess.
  • 10. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
  • 11. But my people would not listen to my voice, and Israel would not listen to me.
  • 12. Therefore I gave them over to the hardness of their hearts, that they should walk in their own counsels.
  • 13. Oh! If only my people had listened to me! If only Israel would walk in my ways!
  • 14. Soon I would strike down his enemies, and I would turn my hand against his adversaries.
  • 15. Those who hate the LORD would submit to him, and his time would be eternal.
  • 16. And he would feed him with the finest wheat, and satisfy him with honey out of the rock.
