  • 1. I cry out to God for help; I cry out to God to hear me.
  • 2. In the day of my distress I seek the Lord; At night I stretch out my hands without ceasing; my soul refuses to be comforted.
  • 3. I remember God and sigh; I meditate, and my spirit faints.
  • 4. You don't allow me to close my eyes; I'm so upset I can't speak.
  • 5. Reflecting on the days of old, on the years long gone,
  • 6. I remember my songs at night; in my heart I meditate, and my spirit asks:
  • 7. Will the Lord reject forever? Will you ever be in favor again?
  • 8. Is your love gone forever? Has his promise failed for all generations?
  • 9. Has God forgotten to be merciful? In his anger has he restrained compassion?
  • 10. Then I thought: “It distresses me, that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
  • 11. I will remember the deeds of the Lord; I will remember your ancient miracles.
  • 12. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your deeds.
  • 13. Your ways, O God, are holy. Which god is as big as our God?
  • 14. You are the God who performs miracles; you have revealed your power among the peoples.
  • 15. With your arm you rescued your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
  • 16. The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and writhed; even the abysses shook.
  • 17. The clouds poured rain, thunder sounded in the heavens; your arrows shone everywhere.
  • 18. The crash of your thunder echoed in the whirlwinds, the lightnings illuminated the world; the earth shook and trembled.
  • 19. Your path was through the sea, your path through mighty waters, but no one saw your footprints.
  • 20. You led your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
