Psalms - Old Testament
Psalms – Old Testament
  • 1. Why do the nations stir, and the people conspire in vain?
  • 2. The rulers of the earth rise up, and the leaders unite against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying:
  • 3. “We will break your chains and cast your bonds from us!”
  • 4. He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs; the Lord mocks them.
  • 5. Then in his anger he rebukes them, and in his wrath he terrifies them, saying:
  • 6. “I myself have established my King in Zion, my holy mountain.”
  • 7. I will proclaim the decree of the Lord. He said to me: “You are my son; I gave birth to him today.
  • 8. Ask of me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession.
  • 9. You will rule them with an iron scepter and crush them like earthen vessels.”
  • 10. Now, O kings, understand; Be warned, authorities of the land.
  • 11. Worship the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.
  • 12. Kiss the Son, so that he does not become angry and you are not destroyed on the way, for his anger will soon flare up. How happy are all who take refuge in him!
