  • 1. The Lord rejects dishonesty on the scales, but is pleased with accurate weights.
  • 2. Disgrace accompanies pride, but wisdom is found in humility.
  • 3. The integrity of the righteous guides them, but the falsehood of the unfaithful destroys them.
  • 4. In the day of divine wrath, wealth is useless, but righteousness delivers from death.
  • 5. The righteousness of the blameless opens a straight path for them, while the wicked are ensnared by their own impiety.
  • 6. The righteousness of the righteous sets them free, but the unfaithful are caught by desire.
  • 7. When the wicked dies, his hopes perish, and all that he trusted in his power falls to pieces.
  • 8. The righteous are saved from tribulations, and these are transferred to the wicked.
  • 9. With his mouth the wicked intends to destroy his neighbor, but the righteous is freed by knowledge.
  • 10. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; but when the wicked perish, there are songs of joy.
  • 11. The blessing of the righteous exalts the city, but the mouth of the wicked destroys it.
  • 12. A man without sense ridicules his neighbor, but he who has understanding bridles his tongue.
  • 13. He who betrays confidence with many words is not worthy of trust; but the faithful keep secrets.
  • 14. Lack of counsel leads to the downfall of the nation, but salvation comes through many counselors.
  • 15. He who serves as surety will suffer, but whoever avoids this charge will be safe.
  • 16. A kind woman earns respect, but cruel men only crave riches.
  • 17. He who does good to others does good to himself; the cruel man attracts evil to himself.
  • 18. The wicked receive deceitful wages, but whoever sows righteousness will reap a sure reward.
  • 19. He who abides in righteousness will have life, but whoever seeks evil runs to death.
  • 20. The Lord detests the wicked in heart, but delights in those whose conduct is blameless.
  • 21. There is no doubt that the wicked will not go unpunished, but the righteous will be spared.
  • 22. A beautiful but indiscreet woman is like a gold ring in a pig's snout.
  • 23. The desires of the righteous result in benefits; the hopes of the wicked lead to wrath.
  • 24. There are those who give generously and see their riches increase; others withhold what they should give and end up in poverty.
  • 25. The generous will prosper, for he who brings relief to others will receive relief himself.
  • 26. The people curse the one who hides the wheat, but blessing crowns the one who is willing to sell it.
  • 27. Whoever seeks good will be respected, but evil will find whoever seeks it.
  • 28. He who trusts in his riches will certainly fall, but the righteous will flourish like green foliage.
  • 29. Whoever causes trouble in his family will inherit the wind, and the fool will be the servant of the wise.
  • 30. The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life, and whoever wins souls is wise.
  • 31. If the righteous receive the retribution they deserve on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
