Solemn festivals

  • 1. The LORD said to Moses:
  • 2. “Say to the Israelites, 'These are the appointed festivals of the LORD, the holy convocations, which you will proclaim at the appointed time:
  • 3. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at dusk, is the Lord's Passover.
  • 4. On the fifteenth day of that month begins the feast of unleavened bread to the LORD. For seven days you will eat unleavened bread.

Easter and the Feast of Unleavened Bread

  • 5. On the first day they will have a holy convocation; they will not do any menial activity.
  • 6. For seven days they will present offerings prepared by fire to the LORD. On the seventh day they will have a holy convocation; they will not do any menial activity.”
  • 7. The LORD said to Moses:
  • 8. “Say to the Israelites, 'When you enter the land I give you and gather in its harvest, bring a sheaf of the first grain you cut to the priest.

The feast of the first fruits

  • 9. He will move you before the LORD, so that you may be accepted; the priest will move it the day after the Sabbath.
  • 10. On the day they move the sheaf, they will offer a one-year-old lamb without blemish to the LORD as a burnt offering.
  • 11. On the same day they shall present to the LORD a grain offering of four liters of fine flour mixed with oil, as an offering prepared by fire, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD, and a libation of one liter of wine.
  • 12. Do not eat bread, parched grain or new grain until you have presented the offering of your God to the LORD. This is a perpetual decree for your generations, wherever you live.
  • 13. “'From the day after the Sabbath, the day on which you brought the sheaf to be moved, you will count seven full weeks.
  • 14. Count fifty days until the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then bring an offering of new grain to the LORD.

The Feast of Pentecost

  • 15. From the region where you live, bring two loaves of fine flour, made with yeast, as a firstfruit offering to the LORD.
  • 16. Present them to the LORD as a wave offering, each with his own bread, like grain offerings of the firstfruits.
  • 17. From the day after the Sabbath, the day on which you brought the sheaf to be moved, you will count seven full weeks. Count fifty days until the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD.
  • 18. Bring to the LORD seven lambs a year old without blemish, one bull and two rams as a burnt offering prepared by fire, with their grain offerings and their drink offerings, as an offering prepared by fire, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
  • 19. Offer one goat as a sin offering and two one-year-old lambs as a peace offering.
  • 20. The priest shall wave them, together with the bread of the firstfruits, as wave offerings before the LORD. They belong to the priest.
  • 21. On that same day, proclaim a holy convocation and do no servile activity. It is a perpetual decree for your generations, wherever you live.
  • 22. “'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not gather to the edge of the field, nor gather up the fallen ears. Leave them for the needy, the stranger, the orphan and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

The Feast of Trumpets

  • 23. “'Make the feast of weeks to the LORD, when you gather the firstfruits of your wheat harvest, and the feast of harvest at the end of the year, when you gather the fruit of your labor from the fields.
  • 24. Three times a year all the men of Israel will appear before the Sovereign LORD.
  • 25. “'Do not offer any leavened bread as a fire offering to me, nor make anything leavened in all your wave offerings, for this is the food I give you. They are saints, as I am saint.

The day of atonement

  • 26. “'Bring to the LORD, when you enter the land that I give you, the first fruits of your harvest, and each year bring a two-liter loaf of fine flour as a grain offering of the firstfruits to the LORD.
  • 27. Offer it to the LORD as a wave offering, so that it may be accepted. The priest will move it the day after the Sabbath.
  • 28. "'On the day they wave the bread, they shall present to the LORD seven lambs a year old without blemish, one bull and two rams as a burnt offering prepared by fire, with their grain offerings and their drink offerings, as an offering prepared by fire, a pleasant aroma to the LORD.

  • 35. “Say to the Israelites, 'On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the feast of the LORD's tabernacles begins for seven days.
  • 36. On the first day you will have a holy convocation; they will not do any menial activity.
  • 37. For seven days they will present offerings prepared by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day they will have a holy convocation and present an offering prepared in the fire to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; they will not do any menial activity.
  • 38. "'These are the appointed feasts of the LORD, the holy convocations, which you shall proclaim as holy occasions, to present offerings prepared by fire to the LORD, sacrifices, burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, each in its season .
  • 39. In addition to the offerings that you voluntarily present to the LORD, present these offerings prepared by fire: an ox, a ram and seven one-year-old lambs, all without blemish.
  • 40. Each of you will bring a four-liter sheaf of fine flour mixed with oil, as an offering prepared by fire, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD. Along with the sheaf they will present a liter of wine as a libation offering.
  • 41. Offer one goat as a sin offering, in addition to the daily burnt offering, with your grain offering and your drink offering.
  • 42. ” 'Offer these sacrifices in addition to the sacrifices of the LORD on the Sabbath, in addition to your obligatory offerings and your freewill offerings, whatever vow or freewill offering you make to the LORD.
  • 43. ” 'Celebrate these festivals of the LORD during the appointed months, according to his command. They are burnt offerings of a pleasing aroma to the LORD, sacrifices prepared by fire, grain offerings and drink offerings, in addition to special offerings to the LORD, obligatory offerings and freewill offerings.' “
  • 44. So Moses transmitted to the Israelites all the commands of the LORD.
