Verses from Ecclesiastes, Chapter 12 of the book of Ecclesiastes of the Bible.
- 1. Remember your Creator in the days of your youth; before the difficult days come and the years approach when you will say: “I have no satisfaction in them”;
- 2. before the sun and the light, the moon and the stars, are darkened, and the clouds return after the rain;
- 3. when the guards of the house tremble and the strong men walk hunched over; when the grinders stop because there are few, and those who look through the windows see blurry;
- 4. when the street doors are closed and the grinding sound decreases; when the noise of birds wakes you up, but the sound of all the songs seems weak to you;
- 5. when you are afraid of heights and the dangers of the streets; When the almond tree blooms, the grasshopper will be a burden and desire will no longer awaken. Then the man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners already wander the streets.
- 6. Yes, remember him, before the silver cord is broken, or the golden cup is broken; before the pitcher shatters at the fountain, the wheel breaks at the well;
- 7. the dust returns to the earth from which it came, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
- 8. “All nonsense! Meaningless!” says the master. "Nothing makes sense! Nothing makes sense!"
The conclusion
- 9. In addition to being wise, the master also taught knowledge to the people. He listened, examined and collected many proverbs.
- 10. He also tried to find the right words, and what he wrote was right and true.
- 11. The words of the wise are like goads, the collection of their sayings like well-fixed nails, coming from the one Shepherd.
- 12. Be careful, my son; add nothing to them. There is no limit to the production of books, and studying too much exhausts the body.
- 13. Now that everything has been heard, here is the conclusion: Fear God and obey his commandments, because this is essential for man.
- 14. For God will bring to judgment everything that has been done, including everything hidden, whether good or bad.
